俄罗斯 is the first language of over 150 million people worldwide. 俄语在俄罗斯使用, other countries in the former Soviet Union, and in many communities in Eastern Europe, 中亚, 和北美. It is one of the five official languages of the United Nations. 美国.S. government has classified 俄罗斯 as a critical-needs language vital to its national security interests.

Studying 俄罗斯 language and culture through this program in SPU’s Department of 语言, 文化, and Linguistics is an intellectually stimulating and enriching experience that can lead to an exciting career in travel, 业务, 商务, and governmental and non-governmental organizations.

• A minimum of 56 credits is required for this major, including 25 upper-division credits, 18 of which must be taught in 俄罗斯.

• Plan carefully with your faculty advisor, because beginning and intermediate 俄罗斯 courses are offered alternate years.
• A course in modern 俄罗斯 literature and culture as well as independent-study options are also available.

• 高级论文 is required and is to be presented in conjunction with the Capstone Seminar.

• A minimum of 35 credits are required for this minor, including 15 upper-division credits.
